Nurse ConsultantsThe Healthy Child Care Illinois (HCCI) program promotes positive development of children in child care settings by linking families and child care providers to health and safety services. Services are directed toward license and license-exempt child care providers as well as friends and relatives caring for children. The HCCI program links child care to health care by utilizing a child care nurse consultant network to provide guidance and assistance to child care providers and families on a range of issues affecting the health and safety of children. The Child Care Nurse Consultants (CCNCs) partner with a multi-disciplinary group to either expand existing public and private services and resources or to create new services and resources that link families, health care, and child care. There are 26 CCNCs in the statewide network, each assigned to one of 16 service delivery areas (SDAs). Services are based upon content from Caring for Our Children: Guidelines for Out-of-Home Child Care Programs and Stepping Stones to Using "Caring for Our Children."
